The Experience
My photography a fusion of both fine art and photojournalistic styles, focusing on capturing real moments of emotion, natural portraits, and editorial style details. By allowing the day to organically happen I’m able to create images that are a true reflection of your relationship, nothing that feels fake or cheesy. I understand how incredibly priceless photographs of friends and family can be as time goes on, and am always capturing candids throughout the day.
Whether it’s just the two of you on a mountain top or you’re sharing your day with your closest loved ones, it’s always incredibly special to be trusted by couples with the memories of their day.
a foundation of film, landscape, and love
the inspiration
My photographic style is rooted in a foundational triad: film, landscape, and love.
Film brings an unmatched texture, tone, and timelessness. Although I shoot a good amount of digital, film is the guiding inspiration for how I compose and edit photographs, use light, and see color. Film captures things as the eye sees them as you move through the experience of your wedding day. The images will never go out of style 10 years down the road! I typically use a mixture of digital, medium format film, 35mm film, and even the occasional toy or box camera to capture a wedding day.
Landscape is more than a backdrop. Maybe it’s because of the way I grew up, but to me it embodies the beauty of life itself. Whether it's portraits on a mountain top or the grounds of a venue, I see landscape as a place of grounding and a place of expansion - a character in the story of your love that will always have special meaning to you.
Love is part of our humanity that links us to not just each other in the present, but also those that came before us, and those that will come after. In its every form, love is the best part of our humanness. Love is our hope. When I shoot a wedding, the moments I look forward to the most are those that make visible the light and hope of love.
